The Knit CamBRIDGE Project
“The work started in April of 2009, and was completed on September 11, 2010, when 16,000 zip ties were used to wrap the bridge in knitwear. Over 1,000 knitters from all over the world contributed – from the Cambridge area, from further afield in Canada, from the US, and from as far away as New Zealand. The oldest knitter participating was 103, the youngest 5. ” - Kate from Knitty Blog

More details to come when my eyes aren’t trying to shut down. :P

Although there are 609 entries in the crafts contest, the top three entries have raised about $5,000 together! That’s close to 1/3 of all the money being donated so far!! :D The Santa hat/booties entry will definitely pass me in votes tonight, but I’m just happy that we’ve contributed so much to this cause already. :)
Thanks for making this possible.
Ah Pinkie Pie. Seventh pony I’d made and my final work on the neck/head area. I shaped the hair by working craft glue into it and curling it over wax paper. I think it turned out rather well.

“Hey! I have a shop on Etsy (ejlmdesigns) where my mom and I create hand-painted record bowls and platters, high quality tie-dyed clothing (onesies and silk scarves, anyone?) and I make hand-bound journals. I saw your post about supporting artists for holiday shopping and thought it was a brilliant idea. I try to shop local as much as I can, especially with artists and I love that other people are trying to as well. :)”
