I crafted through the ENTIRE night and finally finished my piece for the Facebook/Michaels holiday craft contest! :D

This piece is meant to evoke the warm feeling of being home for the holidays and spending time with loved ones.  I hope you like it!! <3

The scene: As true procrastinators, these two bunnies are getting ready for the holiday festivities at the very last minute!  Lots of relatives will be coming over soon (their pictures are hanging in the background), but Alana finds herself all tangled up in Christmas lights!  How will they ever finish on time?! :D

Now I’d really love to hear your feedback because I have a slight dilemma.  There are pros and cons to both the background colors: The bold background fights with a lot of the details (like the Christmas lights, the tree, and the blue pajamas), but it’s definitely eye catching, upbeat, and fun!  On the flip side, the soft background isn’t as eye catching, but the details of my piece can actually be seen.  What do you think?  Any suggestions for finding a better balance?  Colors?  Or are they ok as is?  Which one do you like better?

UPDATE: After receiving all your awesome feedback, I took another shot at photographing this! Here are the new ones: I especially love the new dark blue background.

UPDATE#2: I’ve submitted my piece to the crafts contest!!! Here are 3 awesome links for you!

  36. slothshark answered: I like the bolder blue background, I feel like the (adorable, amazing!) bunnies pop better against it.
  37. mugoi-usagi answered: light background. It brings out the hint of earthy tones in all the yarn and better compliments the scene. The first is very overpowering.
  38. nomadicdiscocraft answered: It’s pretty cute.
